TaskOnPhone ("we", "us", "our") operates the taskonphone.com website and mobile application (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information when you use our Platform as a worker, a business, or a visitor.

By registering on TaskOnPhone or continuing to use our Platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the Platform.

This policy applies to all users of TaskOnPhone — registered workers, business clients, and website visitors — across our website and mobile application. It is governed by the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the IT (Amendment) Act, 2008 of India.

Section 02

Information we collect

We collect information that is necessary to provide our services, verify your identity, process payments, and improve the Platform. We collect information in three ways — directly from you, automatically, and from third parties.

Information you provide directly

  • Full name, mobile number, and email address at registration
  • Aadhaar number or PAN card for KYC verification (as required by Indian law)
  • UPI ID or bank account details for processing payouts
  • Profile information including skills, city, and language preferences
  • Task submissions including photos, survey responses, data entries, and audio files
  • Communications with our support team

Information collected automatically

  • Device type, operating system version, and app version
  • IP address and approximate location (city/state level)
  • Pages visited, tasks viewed, and time spent on the Platform
  • Crash reports and performance data

Information from third parties

  • KYC verification data from Aadhaar/DigiLocker APIs (government sources)
  • UPI transaction status from payment gateway partners
  • Login data if you sign in using Google or Facebook

Section 03

How we use your data

We use your personal data only for legitimate purposes related to operating TaskOnPhone. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling for third-party sale, or any purpose not described in this policy.

  • Account management — to create, verify, and maintain your account on the Platform
  • Task matching — to show you relevant tasks based on your location, skills, and history
  • Payment processing — to calculate, verify, and send your earnings to your UPI or bank account
  • KYC compliance — to comply with Indian tax and financial regulations for income above threshold limits
  • Fraud prevention — to detect and prevent fake task submissions, account abuse, and payment fraud
  • Customer support — to respond to your queries, disputes, and feedback
  • Platform improvement — to analyse usage patterns and fix bugs (using anonymised data)
  • Legal compliance — to comply with court orders, tax authority requests, or government regulations

We never sell your personal data to advertisers or marketing companies. Your data is used exclusively to operate and improve TaskOnPhone and to pay you your earnings.

Section 04

Sharing your data

We share your data only in limited circumstances and with trusted partners necessary to deliver our services. We do not share personal data for marketing purposes.

Service providers

We share data with third-party vendors who help us operate the Platform, including payment gateway partners for UPI/bank transfers, cloud hosting providers (data stored in India), KYC verification services (Aadhaar/DigiLocker APIs), and customer support tools.

Business clients

When you complete a task, the business that posted the task receives only the task output (survey response, photo, data entry) and an anonymised worker ID. Your name, mobile number, and financial details are never shared with business clients.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your data to law enforcement agencies, courts, or government authorities when required by Indian law — for example under the IT Act, Income Tax Act, or a court order. We will notify you where legally permissible before disclosing your data.

All third-party service providers are contractually bound to protect your data and use it only for the specific purpose for which it was shared. They cannot resell or repurpose your data.

Section 05

Data storage & security

We store all personal data on servers located within India, in compliance with Indian data localisation norms. We implement multiple layers of security to protect your data.

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher
  • Sensitive fields (Aadhaar, bank details) are encrypted at rest using AES-256
  • Access to personal data is restricted to authorised personnel on a need-to-know basis
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments are conducted
  • Multi-factor authentication is required for all internal admin access

Data retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law — for example, KYC and payment records must be retained for 7 years under Indian financial regulations.

In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you by SMS and email within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required under Indian IT regulations.

Cookies

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to improve your experience, remember your preferences, and analyse traffic. Our mobile app does not use browser cookies but may use equivalent device-level identifiers.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@taskonphone.com. We will respond within 30 days. Some rights may be limited where retention is required by law.

Section 08

Children's privacy

TaskOnPhone is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. Our KYC process, which requires Aadhaar or PAN verification, prevents minors from completing registration.

If you believe a minor has registered on our Platform, please contact us at privacy@taskonphone.com and we will investigate and delete the account immediately.

Section 09

Policy changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our services, technology, or legal requirements. When we make significant changes, we will notify you by:

  • Sending an SMS notification to your registered mobile number
  • Displaying a prominent notice on the Platform when you next log in
  • Emailing you if you have provided an email address

The updated policy will be effective from the date shown at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Platform after that date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
